It's a lot to spend, but is comparable with other high-end robovacs. The company is running a launch special that knocks $100 off the price tag on Amazon. Of course, all of this convenience comes with a high price tag. About the only thing you have to do is empty and refill the water tanks and occasionally change out the dust bag. It can scrub your hard floors and simultaneously do a deep vacuuming of your rugs, then go back to charge, empty the dust bin, and hot-water clean and hot-air dry the mopping pads. It's a practically maintenance-free home assistant. If you're going to get a high-end mopping botvac, the Ecovacs T20 Omni ticks every box. That is, until I'm admiring my clean floors. Otherwise, I practically forget it's there. With its improved obstacle avoidance, about the only time I've had to rescue the bot is when its gotten stranded on a bath mat (an issue for any robovac I've tested). The dock makes the T20 practically autonomous. The only odd thing is that the brush organizer (for cleaning the dock itself) that was in previous models was absent in my T20, though that could have been because I had an early production sample. Once your T20 is done for the day, it uses hot air drying to prevent mold and mildew.

Other than the hot water addition, the Omni dock has the same excellent design as previously, with auto-emptying into a 75-day capacity dust bag and voluminous water capacity, so there's much less tending to your T20 between cleanings. But after a week with the T20, I can't deny that the pads, and the dock itself, look cleaner. I thought that maybe the 131° hot water washing of the mopping pads might be a gimmick when I saw it in the specs. You can program the T20 to go back to the Omni Station dock after each room and clean up the mopping pads so that it doesn't cross-contaminate rooms (so much better than dragging a dirty rag around your entire house in one go). It doesn't go slamming into dark furniture, but nimbly (albeit a bit slowly) picks its way around it. The T20 easily avoids obstacles like discarded socks or forgotten pet toys. I'm happy to say Ecovacs' new TrueDetect 3D 3.0 system for obstacle avoidance is a vast improvement. It's another area that I had issues with the T20's predecessor. Overall, it makes for an extremely effective cleanīut good scrubbing and vacuuming ability only goes so far if the bot can't navigate obstacles in your home. The T20 can also deploy Edge Deep Cleaning, which has the bot occasionally do a little twist when it cleans in corners and against walls so that it makes sure it gets every last spot. It has dual side sweeper brushes, making it efficient in corners and at corralling stray debris that might skirt away from the T20 otherwise. Overall, this provides a much more effective clean, as you don't have debris getting trapped in hair clumps in the middle of the brush (bleh). It diverts hair to the end of the brush where it's easier to clean up. The other new features are just icing on the cake.Īnother big improvement in the vacuum on the T20 is the new tangle-free rubber brush. It was the T10's biggest flaw and I'm thrilled to see that rectified here.

Previously, you'd have to remove the mopping pads entirely if you wanted your Ecovacs bot to vacuum rugs and carpet. It means that, when it detects carpet, it can pull the moist mopping pads off the floor and employ all of its 6,000Pa suction power (a 1,000Pa improvement over the T10). This is something that a lot of bots can do, but rarely ones with dual spinning mopping pads like the T20.

That's because the T20 is Ecovacs' first bot that has the ability to raise the mopping pads while vacuuming carpet and rugs. With a good map in place, I picked up a few random bits and let the T20 get to work on my tile and rugs. All I had to do was divide some of the larger spaces (which I have to do with any bot). Its quick map was crisp, clear, and room delineation was exactly as expected. That bot struggled to map my house correctly, sometimes linking portions of separate rooms. Even after the first quick map of my house, I could tell that the T20 was an improvement over the T10.
